question

(Anonymous) 2013-08-30 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Can a human woman/sexless robot couple be considered f/f if the robot is kind of feminine-looking and often referred to with female pronouns?

Re: question

(Anonymous) 2013-08-30 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I would think so?

I think it's probably one of things where it's going to depend on who you're talking to.

Re: question

If the robot is using feminine pronouns then it is she and not an it anymore, so yes it would be f/f.

well they did say other people referred to the robot as female which doesn't necessarily mean the robot views itself/herself as female (maybe they just don't care about the concept of gender being that they're, well, a robot who may have a different thought process than humans). I guess it depends on how human this robot is supposed to be. a lot of robots/androids on certain television shows think and feel very similar to humans while others don't at all. Still, f/f would probably be the best label, maybe with a note about the whole robot thing

I would think so.

Will there be a link?

I think you can get away with calling it f/f, but I'd personally specify it as human/robot (if it's not a huge spoiler or anything) just to give people a heads up if they take issue with that sort of thing.

I guess I don't see why not. I know you said it was sexless (so I'm guessing it isn't...anatomically correct) but does the robot consider itself female? And for context, are you talking about a pairing from a specific fandom?

Great, now I want to read/see this.

Count me in as another "I want to see this", OP.
