I have come out the other side of sleep deprivation and now feel a glorious effervescent false confidence that my brain is running at tip-top shape

Yeah, I know that feeling. Like a false dawn. The feeling that you're fine, but the fragility of it, where your mind can barely keep track of itself and you go haring down strange mental passages constantly

but what if I awake from strange dreams to find myself transformed in my bed into a giant cockroach?

That'd be crazy, you could probably turn it into some kind of metaphor for living under the conditions of modernity

and probably go on the talk show circuits too

hey and I could survive ANYTHING

I could endorse nokia phones

I could work in a nuclear reactor and save lives

honestly I hate Kafka but I can still admit that that is one of the greatest opening lines I ever read.

Oh god, I know that sleep deprivation fucks with your head, that way lies madness, etc...

But I still think that's one of the best feelings in the world. Especially when you take off at sunup for some kind of banal adventure while still riding high on it. (I'd recommend the library. TODAY YOU UNCOVER THE SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSE. KNOWLEDGE! Or, at least that's how it seems when you haven't slept.)

Heed me now, children; after a certain age, this particular Jedi mind trick morphs into something decidedly more Lovecraftian in nature.

Well, in my case, it usually starts to turn after about five PM or so.

(But I think even that's worth experiencing, in a fucked-up kind of way. :P)

I meant more like after the third decade of life, ahaha.

But, yeah, depending on the sitch, it can sometimess be kind of a o.O? My brain does this? Without drugs?? type of moment LOL.

Oh, I understood! I just meant that there's kind of a sell-by date on that "WOO NO SLEEP!" feeling at any age.

(And I also think it has a lot to do with your individual constitution... I know people my age and younger who feel absolutely useless on less than eight hours, and have an aunt in her late 50s who stays up all night to read or watch movies.)

I feel less transcendent but more collected now.

Also I am hungry
