If 'neckbeard' is used as an insult in a post that is supposed to contain reasonable criticism of somebody's actions, I agree.

If it is used as an insult by somebody who does not claim to be objective and just wants to offend some third party, I disagree. It is a part of the cultural message. Fiction is full of characters with telltale appearances.
