I'm doubtful that its writer's block, I can come up with the ideas... And sometimes the writing. Either I'll type it out and never share it, or I'll write it on paper but never get the nerve to type it out. I can't get past my brain telling me my ideas/plot/characters etc. are wrong/bad/cliche/terribly written before anyone even had a chance to see it and I need to get over myself I guess. Haha.

da

This is one of those things where you really just need to bite the bullet and do it. Make a sock puppet somewhere, don't attach it to any of your other accounts, and just post shit and ask for concrit. Or join a writing circle and float some of your ideas there. But there's no getting around it - if you want to be a better writer, others need to see your work and give you new perspectives for you to consider.

You're right. After talking plot with a friend and making this thread I'm at the 'JUST FUCKING DO IT ALREADY' point. And I need the crit sooner or later.

Tell yourself it's going to be bad, and writing bad stuff is how you're going to get better. Tell yourself you'll post it anonymously, so you'll be able to get feedback without having it traced back to you. Tell yourself you'll get yourself a slice of cake as soon as you post fic. Whatever it takes to motivate yourself, find it and put yourself out there.
