Seriously, there is so much writing, so much art, so much STUFF in the world that it would be impossible to read/see/consume all of them, let alone like all of them.

Shakespeare is well-taught and well-known because of the cultural impact he's had. You can study his works and this impact without needing to like him.

If you need to study Shakespeare for an academic reason, go ahead and use CliffsNotes - if you don't like Shakespeare and are just tunneling through it, then you'll get the same out of it either way. For your own writing, your own interest, all of that - read what you love.
