Really? While I would say BB is my favorite drama at the moment, I think there are a ton of shows (esp on cable) that are aiming high. Few are as great as BB (Mad Men is the only straight drama that I watch that really competes; theres also some interesting stuff in the comedy/dramedy world - Louie is fantastic), but plenty are good. And its not like most films (or books for that matter) are high art.

Ahh, by "any film" I meant "even the highest quality films". That probably wasn't clear - most films definitely phone it in, as well.
