Honestly, I think most people can't just sit down and read a Shakespeare play. But that's because they're not meant to be read. They're meant to be acted. The first time I went to see one live I was blown away because wow, I still didn't really understand the language but it was clear from the context what was happening! Completely different experience between reading a play and seeing one live.
