I'm late to the thread, but if you're still reading, OP, you might find the Shakespeare graphic novels a helpful way of getting into his plays. There are various versions, from simplified text to the full text of the play in graphic novel form. I find being able to see the action helps me - after all, he intended them to be seen, not read!

There are lots of them around on Amazon if you want to check them out.
