Outrageous Fortune, by Tim Scott. Idiotic attempts at satire, America as written by someone from the UK who didn't bother to get his slang and stereotyping double-checked, and a literal "it was all just a dream" ending.

No, I take it back, but only because I remember that wasn't the most recent book. I read Clockwork Angels more recently than that one. Steampunk novel written by Kevin J. Anderson as a companion to the Rush concept album of the same name. Don't give me that look; I wasn't expecting it to be good. The only reason I kept with it was because the entire text was peppered with older Rush lyrics and trying ot find them all was a weird combination of entertaining and annoying.
