I tend to stop reading if I don't like something which stops me from hating it, but I gave Terry Pratchet's Snuff a try and didn't like it (didn't hate it just boring)

I'm reading that book for the first time and I'm only 80 pages in, but so far it seems okay.

Then again, I've heard a lot of other lukewarm reviews since it came out so I might be subconsciously lowering my expectations. That and I've consciously lowered my expectations since it's a "Vimes away from Ankh Morpork" book and those are never as fulfilling as "Vimes in Ankh Morpork" books.

It didn't exactly feel like a Discworld book to me, but it very much felt like a Vimes book. So, not what I was expecting, but still good in its own right.

ayrt

to be fair, I've only liked one of his books before (Guards?). He normally doesn't "click" with me but a friend thought I might like it. But I didn't so I stopped reading XD

Ah, see Vimes is probably my favorite character in the whole series. So I'm not expecting it to live up to my absolute favorites (Jingo and Night Watch), but I'll be happy with even a decent romp.

I suspect that Snuff is probably one of the most disappointing Pratchett novels.

I think his more recent stuff is pretty terrible, and it makes me so sad. :(

I actually really enjoyed Going Postal (I think it's one of his best), but I was bored with Making Money.
