Fave Fics of August

Now that we've entered September, I thought it would be fun to look back at some of the things we read in August and really enjoyed. Not necessarily your favorite fics of all time (because that can get repetitive), but specifically something you read or re-read last month. Long, short. Finished, WIP. Gen, paired, porn. Whatever it was, whatever the fandom, give us a peek.

Sadly, I spent all last month working and writing and read nothing. Yes, that's part of why I'm doing this.

Well, technically it was the month before last, but I discovered the fic writer Broken Vow of the Phantom of the Opera fandom. Most of her stuff is pretty long, E/C pairing.

I really like her stuff because she doesn't Raoul-bash, Eric isn't transformed into some romance novel tragic hero like in half the fanfics, and at the same time his super-obsessive, possessive nature isn't glossed over or excused like in the other half, not to mention Christine gets her own characterization and isn't some thinly-veiled author stand-in.

Everything by Limited Heart on fanfiction.net. I wonder why someone with such a beautiful style ended up writing for something as weirdly obscure as Code Lyoko.
