Re: What's the most recent book you've read and hated?

ohhhh boy i stay far, far away from paranormal romance

one time i picked up A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole
the hero was a Scottish werewolf and the heroine was a vampire
basically he stalks, kidnaps and rapes her

but it's okay because he can't help it because that's what manly men do

i threw that book across the room so hard it probably left a dent in the wall. i am truly baffled that so many people love it, and i am never reading another book by Kresley Cole ever again.

I had to start avoiding paranormal romance and urban fantasy altogether because "abuse is love" fantasy has infected both genres. But every once in awhile I get stupid and lured back in by one because, hey, who doesn't love Scottish werewolves and badass vampires getting it on? Except for the rape (which would be a lot easier to avoid if it was actually treated like rape). Sigh.
