Procrastination

[personal profile] cakemage 2013-09-02 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Anyone else here putting off stuff that they probably shouldn't? I've got a research paper due tomorrow night, and in-between distractions I'm still reading through all of the sources I've dug up. Once I actually start writing the damn thing it shouldn't take too long to finish, considering it only has to be four pages and the professor insisted that we cite at least five sources. I think he was trying to make up for the fact that he assigned a paper that's due the second week of the semester. Anyway, back to work.

I am - I have to write a "shitty first draft" [prof's words, not mine] that's due tuesday for a creative writing class. My problem is more that I've rped for so long instead of written, that it's really weird to control more than one character/be in charge of everything, that's throwing me off a little.

But it's only writing the first act, so once I actually get to it the thing won't take too long to write.

...I also should be reading for government, but >>;;

Once you get back into the swing of regular writing instead of RP writing, you may find that all that RP experience can start to help with your writing instead of hindering it. At any rate, I wish you luck.

AYRT

Oh, I'm sure it will, particularly considering I've learned a lot in the 12-13 years I've been prose rping. It's just getting there that's going to be interesting. ^^;;

Good luck yourself! What's your research paper on, if you don't mind my asking?

Thanks! My project is to write a 4-to-5 page paper that defines "pulp" in the context of fiction magazines from 1901-1949 and via at least five academic sources. It shouldn't be too difficult, I'm just having a really hard time concentrating at the moment. Maybe I should call it a night and buckle down tomorrow.

Was the actual assignment "Write a shitty first draft", then?

Your professor sounds cool.

I know that feeling all too well. What's your story about, if you don't mind my asking?

I have an art gift in the works for someone, and I'm putting it off because the next step involves deliberately damaging it to repair a mistake I already made and I just don't want to think about having to fix the new damage.
