Well, in his defense on the fourth one, I think the book was published in the early 90s, and that was a little more common then.

for the rest of it, I haven't read that book in a while so I can't and wouldn't defend it. But I generally like Charles De Lint's writing, and there was a time when I loved it passionately (I should probably reread some of those books, actually, it's been a while). So I guess I just wanted to say that I'm sorry it didn't work for you.

Yeah, 1992, and sillier techfail shows up every week (did you see Pacific Rim?) It was still somehow the dealbreaker. Idk, just made me give up hope of ever attaining suspension of disbelief.

I picked it up because a while ago, someone gave me Someplace To Be Flying and I enjoyed it. So I understand your general affection!
