Yeah, so I was nodding in agreement until I realised you'd pulled the dick move of naming the person.

Not cool

(Anonymous) 2013-09-03 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
I don't get why that's such a big deal.

That person has made her stuff publicly available. She has opened herself up to comment, be it good or bad. You wouldn't complain if someone went around praising her; why do you care if someone shares a negative opinion about her?

(Anonymous) 2013-09-03 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
It's not right to say out loud her name (blog). Would you like if someone say anything about you that way, saying that your art is shit or something? You could just have say you don't liked a blog but why did you have to link her? You are really pathetic. People are different and have different tastes, you could have only unfollow her and nothing more. Not complaining about it. There is always people who is going to like her stuff and you can't do anything about it so stop complaining. Just stop.

I would appreciate it, actually, if I was already opening my work up for comment. This "no negative comments" thing makes fandom really stagnant sometimes.

...*blink*

"Would you like if someone say anything about you that way, saying that your art is shit or something?"

I don't like it when people criticize me by name, but I don't get butthurt over it. I have put myself out there, and I have to accept the consequences of that. Not everyone is going to like me. Some people, in fact, are going to dislike me rather strongly, and they are going to express that to others. I wouldn't want them to censor themselves, nor would I want them to refrain from linking to me (especially since someone who's unfamiliar might click that link and decide that they actually like what I do!).

"You could just have say you don't liked a blog but why did you have to link her? You are really pathetic."

A) I'm not the OP. The fact that I don't think the OP did anything wrong does not mean that I'm him/her. Cut it with the groupthink.

B) What's the use of saying that one doesn't like a thing if one doesn't reveal what that thing is? Do you think movie reviewers should not mention what movies they're reviewing on the off-chance that they might offend someone involved in the making of said movies?

"People are different and have different tastes, you could have only unfollow her and nothing more. Not complaining about it."

Yes. And you could only follow her and nothing more. But instead, you feel the need to defend her and stop people from expressing opinions about her that you don't like. Why? You're one side of the same coin, buddy.

"There is always people who is going to like her stuff and you can't do anything about it so stop complaining. Just stop."

On the same token, there are always going to be people who don't like her stuff and you can't do anything about it. So stop complaining.

In general: grow up. People don't like what you like. Your artist friend understands that not everyone will like what she does, because she's a mature adult. You, clearly, are not.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-03 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
People have different taste and different opinions and are allowed to express them. You may not agree with it or them but calling them pathetic for it is immature. The artist in question handled it with far more dignity and grace than you.

HEY FANDOM QUEEN, C'M HERE!

(Anonymous) 2013-09-03 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
what

hold on a second, anon, you are not the fandom queen to tell us we can't criticize someone's artistic endeavors that they published for everyone to see of their own volition

see, you have to do battle with the current fandom queen, and only if you beat her can you tell us what to do and how to do it in regards to everything fandom

complaining about this stuff is pretty much the point of fandomsecrets so I'd have to disagree with you there. also, I'm not looking at the secret right now, but I'm fairly sure the OP never said this artist's work is shit? just that it has gotten worse/isn't perfect.

[personal profile] anonlulz 2013-09-03 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Because some morons believe it's their job to defend people who don't even know they exist.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-03 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
OP, and I guess we all just have differing views. Namedropping to me isn't that big of a deal, especially when people here have been mentioning other artists to figure out who it could have been here.

To me the anon who felt the need to send her a message pulled a dick move because they only wanted to create drama, and did.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-03 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
da

I agree. Namedropping isn't that big of deal (to me), especially for a secret that's essentially saying you enjoyed something once but no longer do. There's no name-calling or pettiness involved.

The anon who purposely notified her, though...yeah, that was specifically to stir shit and cause hurt feelings. That's not cool.

I dunno. If someone was talking about my creative endeavors online somewhere I'd like to know. I'd appreciate the commentary. The anon who notified her might have assumed she'd feel the same and might have told her with good intentions.

...Or they could've just been a shit-starter like you said. Yeah.
