"Mundanes" as a term used within SF/F fandom for those outside of it predates Harry Potter by decades.

Calling someone a "mundie' is so very similar to 'muggle'. I'm sorry, but she wasn't even trying

...it's really not. I get the visceral dislike of Cassie Clare, but you're reaching. Seriously, that term has been around for decades.

It has? Because I've been in various fandoms for over 20 years and I've literally never heard the term "mundies." I have heard "you're scaring the mundanes" or "the normals." Never mundie. I might've been in the wrong parts of the country or fandom, though.
