11. I haven't seen Gankutsuou, but I've been a Dumas fan since forever... and I love all the adaptations of his books, too. Even the really bad Musketeer movies. XD I don't know if this is helpful, but there's something about his books that makes me love them and their adaptations, no matter how different they are (and I'm usually a book purist). So why don't you give it a try? Maybe you can enjoy both in different ways.

... and whenever an adaptation screws up the book, just remember, Dumas did that to history. XD He can't complain.
