I caught my nephew's cold. (Thanks, kiddo!) But rather than have a big bowl of chicken soup which is usually most people's go to meal when they are sick, I want a bowl of egg drop soup. Egg drop soup is my chicken soup.

So, when you are sick with something like a cold, what food do you like to turn to, to make yourself feel better?

Egg-lemon soup (I cheat and make it from canned soup):

1/3 cup rice
2 cups chicken broth
1 can Progresso Chicken Rice Soup
juice of 2 lemons (or to taste)
2 eggs, separated

Cook the rice in the broth; when it's done, add the soup. Beat the egg whites until soft peaks form; add the yolks and beat until well blended. Add the lemon juice, beating constantly. With a ladle, slowly add about a cup of hot broth from the pot, beating constantly. Pour the egg/broth/lemon mixture back in the pot. Cook over very low heat (turn off the heat but leave the pot on the burner), stirring constantly, until it coats a spoon.

Mine is always chicken and stars soup. Of course, we are currently out of it and I just caught a cold too!

Boiled chicken that no one else can make but my mom. Because she puts in some Asian herbs and plants from her garden, and she'll usually use the black bone chicken, with steamed rice. <3

And Jell-O. It's been a thing of mine since I was little. I was probably eight or nine when I got super sick, and I didn't really eat anything for a little over a month. When I finally began to feel better, I only wanted to eat Jell-O. It's been a comfort food when I'm sick ever since then.

Chicken. Not just chicken soup, but chicken in general.

I'm also big on honey lemon tea when my throat hurts. I'll get large ones at Tim Hortons all day every day until my throat feels better.

When i'm sick, i don't want to eat anything at all, and sometimes i only want a little bit of ginger ale. Mostly i curl up in my fleecy robe with blankets and turn the tv on something monotonous and zone out.

I know i'm feeling better when i start craving ice water.

for some reason potato chips with hot sauce and lemon zest always make me feel better (mostly because they never ever disagree with my stomach, no matter how sick)
