Uh, ya know some homophobes can have closeted sexual desires for people of the same sex, and even act on them whilst still remaining homophobic after the act. I'm not saying that means anything did happen, I'm just saying that homophobe ≠ 100% straight.

Especially back then considering that homosexuality was only decriminalised '67 and was still hardly considered acceptable for a long, long time after that.

I think the problem with this theory is that people in the closet of that age usually made it work through compartmentalization and anonymity. Not to mention the fact that there was a wave of bi chic in rock near the end of the 60s and 70s that seems to have completely passed the existing and former Beatles without even a hint of including them. They were under the microscope for the past 50 years. We have details about John's relationship abuse and serial infidelity, and weird heterosexual sex quads between George and Clapton. But we have only vague rumors that Epstein and John may or may not have had something.
