When someone is essentially re-writing a canon scene - say, it's an AU or their describing a character's thoughts during that moment - and the author transcribes all the dialogue for the entire scene in the fic. Even worse if they describe everyone's actions and expressions in detail.

I get that it's supposed to be the same moment with the same things happening (but with an AU twist or an inner monologue) but reading a scene transcription is boring and the extra stuff added in (if there even is much added) may not be enough to make up for it. Find a creative way to show that the moment still happened - maybe re-create a tiny piece of it or use just one or two memorable lines or something - but please do not just re-tell the entire thing. I saw/read the original, I don't need you to type it out for me.

OMFG. I read a Dean/Castiel fic that was based off of Tangled that was was basically the movie script with the names changed. I was like, What. The. Hell? And I had previously read another Dean/Cas fic based on Tangled which was what a fic like that is supposed to be like. So I was doubly disappointed.

Hey, are there any Dean/Cas fics that AREN'T AU? Because I'm scrolling up AO3 and it's like AU after AU. This is a serious inquiry.

When I was in the fandom there was. But I have not really read much Dean/Cas fic in like...6 months. And what I have read was AU. If you are looking for some recs, Supernatural Fic Finder is an awesome resource. I could also look through my old bookmarks. C:
