I feel your pain, I was looking at this one company that look partially decent, but digging into their website, surprise! "We are highly unlikely to rent to you unless you have any apartment rental history". Which, I get, it's just... It wasn't obvious, I had to dig around to find that, so they'd have gotten my money in the fee you pay so they'll look at your paperwork, but they wouldn't have rented to me, probably.

/rambling sorry

/offers you hugs unless that's creepy?

No, it's not creepy, haha.

Yeah, skeevy landlords are the worst. But for me, it's not even about that right now. It's more that I live in a place where there's massive demands for apartments. Which means that it's really difficult to even get to see an apartment, and once you do get to see there's tons of competition for it, and if you do get one you're going to paying ridiculously inflated prices. It's just awful (especially the price).

I think sometimes about just giving up and moving somewhere else where the rent is affordable - but I don't want to do it yet, because I was born here and I love this place and I'd like to live here if I can. But Jesus, I look at the rents I'm looking at, and it's actually double or more what I'd be looking at if I moved away. I can probably afford it, but it's a lot more difficult than it would be otherwise. There's just so much anxiety, you know? Is it remotely possible for me to get this apartment, and if I get this apartment, will it ruin me financially. Ugh.

/hugs back

Cool. :D

Oh man, that really sucks! D: I hope you are able to find a decent apartment, without it costing way too much. :(
