I backbuttoned out of a fic a few days ago that was almost entirely this. I was still mildly fascinated by it, though, because it was all about how Canon Boyfriend isn't good enough for his girlfriend and she should totally ditch him for (OOC, idealized version of) Other Male Character. I think that's the first Get Out Of My OTP fic I've stumbled across where the author wasn't trying to get rid of the icky girls.
