Secret 5 - Inspector Morse, Endeavour

[Picture is three screen-captures of the episode "The Remorseful Day", the final of the TV show "Inspector Morse". One shows a sunset or sunrise with many clouds on one side, and hill or mountain silhouetted on the foreground with some trees with little or no foliage. In the second screen-capture there is a man driving a car and adjusting the rear-view mirror. He has light skin, short dark hair and is wearing a suit. He looks distressed. In the third (from the same scene?) there is the face of an older man reflected in the mirror. He has olive skin and short gray hair. He is frowning or at least very serious.]

Double Secret Time (or "things that everyone is bawling their eyes out about that irritate the hell out of me")

The way The Remorseful Day was filmed pissed me off. Was it so difficult to keep the Strange/Yvonne plotline? In the original book Morse was protecting Strange; in the adaptation it just made no goldarned sense. It would make as much difference for the audience as it did for Lewis!

[About the car/rear-view mirror scene?] I thought it was cheap and looked like a bad photomanip. Also, hereafter Thursday never calls Morse "Endeavor", so that was, too, random as hell.

I like both shows WTF even.

Re: that scene. Endeavour is the prequel to Morse, a series that starred John Thaw (now deceased) headed as the title character. It's basically connecting the actor playing Endeavour with Thaw, by having Endeavour adjust the mirror and the audience looking at the mirror and seeing his older self look back.

Aww, but I loved that "One day I'm gonna have great eyebrows!" moment in Endeavour because it was cheap and cheesy!

Holy shit I thought I was the only person who knew what these shows were.

You know The Remourseful Day is the only episode I can't ever watch again. I assume you mean his last episode by the way? In fact thinking about it makes my throat sore and tears come to my eyes. I think it's incredibly sad. That scene where he's sitting in the armchair having tried to get into birdwatching and the shot just focusses on his face and the deep sadness there.

I don't know the books thought OP but as a telly Morse fan, I think it's amazing.
