I love meta. But meta is not the same as fangirling or whatever so I can understand why a person can get tired of it if it's meta all the time.

There is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

not original commenter (i'd like to know myself what they meant) but I think meta is more discussion of the works; an analysis. And fangirling, I think, it's a celebration kind of thing.

Different Anon here - to me fangirling is basically just squee and love for the source, where meta is analysis and theories and breakdown of the source. They can overlap, but I see them as different things.
