I learned how to scan microfilm! It was surprisingly easy and fun, even if the publication I scanned wasn't exactly what I was looking for. It still meets the project requirements, and my professor will understand. Now I just have to find some online pulp magazine collections and wait for the pulp titles I ordered to come in and I can write my paper.

Ooh this sounds really interesting, kind of makes me miss writing papers. Which titles/collections are you writing yours on if you don't mind my asking?

I have to discuss which genre of pulp that I'll be focusing on this semester, as well as the pros and cons of the various forms of archival dissemination of pulp/historic magazines: material, virtual, and electronic. For the material portion, I bought three sci-fi pulp magazines on eBay, though I'm only going to focus on the Amazing Stories title. Since my university's library doesn't have any pulps on microfiche, I chose a 1933 issue of Publisher's Weekly to examine. As for the electronic source, tonight I plan to search for free online scans of sci-fi pulps, preferably of Amazing Stories. Luckily, the paper only has to be 4-5 pages long, double-spaced. If I manage my time better this weekend, I should have it done well before the deadline, as opposed to last week's paper, which I finished and submitted roughly an hour before it was due. Still managed to get the highest grade in the class, though. /tl;dr

Anyway, writing essays will probably be the last thing I miss about college after I graduate next semester, but given the strange things I tend to get nostalgic about, it wouldn't be too surprising if I did start to miss it.
