the text comes from something insanenoodlyguy found on tumblr (page 2 of today's post), and the woman in the picture is Anita Sarkeesian, a feminist critic of media who raised a kickstarter to get funds to make a web series criticizing sexist tropes in videogames

on the one side there were really awful sexist and death threats against her and those were inexcusable, but on the other side she really sucks at the whole criticism thing, so you can defend her on the "dude, come on, don't treat fellow human beings like that" area but no on the "she is doing a great job with that money, stop it" area

also allegedly (dunno if this one is true), instead of using the money to buy games and better equipment to film herself playing and discussing what she analyzes like she promised, she is taking the info from other articles and using footage of let's plays so

(personally having watched at least one of her videos... yeah, she's not very good at what she does - people calling it middle-school level of intellectualism/criticism are spot-on)

Oh that's confirmed.





Now, on my second picture, getting a game wrong might not be proof that she did't play it. But it's proof her editing is lousy.

In fairness, she asked for like 6,000. Not 100k+. So I don't think she was ever equipped for this.

yet, with far, far more then originally asked for... why isn't her equipment any better? I mean, she wanted to buy better stuff... where the hell is it? It And worse then tat it's still a clear lack of integrity to rip off other people's lets plays (that or she did them identically and in one r) without giving any credit.

The middle schooler would probably play the goddamn games first.

Ah. I'm familiar with her but not her face or, heh, her name, it has to be connected with 'women gaming kickstarter' for me to get it.

I saw the thing noodly posted - that's another layer of wtf on this weird secret. Yeesh.

It's a pity her stuff isn't better.

Yeah, people really wanted this to be good, but the problem was they didn't look into if she could deliver or not. I bet quite a few of the folks on that kickstarter didn't actually watch her other videos... there were folks that could have told you she wasn't very good... the problem was next to those comments were people going "fuck that feminazi cunt" so we didn't look very convincing.

Yeah. Frankly, though, even if what she's doing isn't the greatest, at least it makes people think and it *really* exposed the jackasses who dogpiled her, so....
