pet peeve

If you're trying to express how cute something is, don't spell it "awe." Awe is to be in extreme reverence, admiration, or fear of something. You are not in awe of the cute puppy. Put aw or aww.
starphotographs: ...I'm not that bad, though. And I don't even light things on fire! Well, not regularly... (Izaya (devious))

da

also it's "voila" not "viola"

(but it's kind of great to imagine a viola appearing after you follow a tuna sandwich recipe)

Viola is wayyyyyy to entertaining of a typo for me to get angry about it

This brings me back to when everyone in the HP fandom who did not speak french would write Fleur's name "Fluer". FLUER!? And they'd pronounce her name like "floor". It hurt me.

No, it gets worse. I've actually seen people attempt to type "voila" and have it come out "wallah." I am only engaging in a little bit of hyperbole when I say that it's the most horrible thing ever.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that.

The one that gets me the most is when someone writes "rediculous". It's surprisingly common.
cassandraoftroy: Callisto from Xena, shooting fire from her fingertips (callisto)

That just makes me wonder about bluediculous.

Oh, that reminds me of another. There are people that confuse "wander" (to walk aimlessly) with "wonder" (to speculate or imagine). This results in characters "wondering off" and me being filled with rage.

Well, yes. You *would* be in awe of the cute puppy. But when you see it, you might exclaim "Awww!!!!Cute puppy!"

Inspired by the terrible poetry noodleguy posted:

If you can't handle/stand something, you can't bear it.
If you can't uncover something, you can't bare it.

I wouldn't be able to have sex with someone if I couldn't uncover their crotch either.
