I have a cousin who does mission work in Haiti (I say "mission work" but it's sort of that and a combination of setting up schools, workplaces, and saving restavek children...she's like a freaking superhero). She says that sometimes people in her community just sort of show up at her door with an injury or an illness. It just kind of happens. If they can, they get to a hospital, but that's not an option for a lot of people, and they don't always have an actual doctor in the community.
