serious questions: why is this person friends with CC?

(Anonymous) 2013-09-07 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
To spite you personally.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-07 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
She liked her fanfic, I think?

(Anonymous) 2013-09-07 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. I don't get it, either. The gap between their writing skill level is embarrassingly wide, and on top of that you have all of Cassandra Clare's awful track record of plagiarism and bullying.

Birds of a feather. Holly Black is the better writer, but as people, they have a lot in common.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-08 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
is she also a jerk?

Witchcraft.

Secret 3 - White Cat by Holly Black

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-09-07 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[Picture is the cover of the book "White Cat" by the author Holly Black, with a blurb saying: "Dangerously, darkly gorgeous fantasy." -Cassandra Clare. It features a young man with light skin and short dark hair wearing a black leather jacket and black leather gloves staring at the viewer with a serious expression on his face and holding a white cat in his arms.]

I wish this series had a fandom. Holly Black is actually a good writer. (Even with the stupid Cassandra Clare quote seen here.)

And I would love curse worker fusion Alternate Universes with other fandoms.

I think the premise is great. I fell in love with the universe when I read it.

Has Holly Black improved since Tithe? That book was pretty dreadful, but I think it was also her first novel.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-07 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought Valiant was a lot better.

I liked her Tales of Faerie series more, but overall her writing beats CC's any day. It's a shame there isn't a bigger fandom for her stuff.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-09 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
there's no room. cc is taking it all up with her lard ass and monumental ego.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-07 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
i really liked her tithe books they were cool to 14y/o me

The cat in that picture is gorgeous.

I've been meaning to read this series, if only because of the spontaneous two curseworker!fushion fics in my main fandom :P

(Anonymous) 2013-09-08 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
This...this actually exists?

WHAT IS THIS FANDOM AND WHERE ARE THE FICS.

i'd jump in on the fandom but i haven't read the book yet despite the intriguing premise. write some fusion AU fic then! maybe you'll inspire others to participate.

i hope this book is as good as the blurb promises because i wasn't all that wild about the tithe series (there was decent writing and an interesting premise but the lackluster characters and the melodramatic edgy feel overpowered any interest i had in the series) and didn't feel motivated to read anything else by her.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-08 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
For what it's worth, I didn't care for "Tithe" at all.

I was intrigued by the premise of the Curse Workers books as well, so I gave them a shot, and it was totally worth it. Cons (oh my GOD the cons), magic, mobs...it's all the blurb promises and more.

My $.02, anyhow.

I need to re-read the trilogy, I only read them as they released and I need to have them back-to-back to get the full effect of Black's writing. She's up there with Maggie Stiefvater as two of the few young adult authors I can trust not to make me ragequit a novel.
