Yeah, the anime ended differently, too. In the manga it ends with Sango and Miroku having three children (Two twin girls and a baby boy) Kagome goes back in time and marries Inuyasha. Rin stays with Kikyo's sister in the village. Kohaku gets his own weapon and fights demons with Kilala. Anddd Shippou goes to a demon school, lol.

Actually, there's a second anime series called "Inu Yasha: Final Act" that picks up where the first anime series left off, and ends where the manga does. It's 26 episodes.
