+1 nothing irks me more than fans thinking that by have their ship becime canon, they are helping the lgbt community

but all of those stupid shows are just "queerbaiting" people and if the ships don't become canon then gay marriage will never be accepted!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!

Heh, 'queerbaiting' meaning that two characters of the same sex were in the same scene and expressed affection/respect/dislike/some other form of non-indifference to one another.

Sure, but on the other hand we should probably be careful about not backlashing the baby out with the bath water.

I can think of a few shows that could probably stand to do their bit for LGBT culture by coming the hell out of the closet. (Rizzoli and Isles, for instance? Is anybody buying that that's not a show about a lesbian couple that's tragically been put through a half-arsed Google Translate to heterosexuality.) Slacktivist slashers (slashtivists? idk) have bollocks priorities, but they aren't always wrong about the queerbaity thing.
