is it really all that relevant to respond to a comment that was clearly written in the context of Europe and North America and be all "WELL YOU'RE WRONG BECAUSE IN JAPAN"

i mean, what is the earthly point of that, for pete's sake

The original statement was a generalization about men as a whole and then white people as whole. You can't make those statements and then backtrack and say, "Wait, I only meant certain white people and men" without someone calling you out on it.

no, I think ayrt has a good point. And nobody was trying to make a statement about white people as a whole; it was pretty clearly in the context of a place where white people are a social majority.
