I'll have to check those fics out!

The new gen looks exciting, but I have issues with the 3DS and no it's not just the 3D, something about the screen itself gives me a headache :(. So this'll probably be another gen I have to skip.

Oh, damn! Have you seen the new 2DS? It's cheaper, no 3D, and it's meant for younger kids, but it may have screen settings that could work better for you. Alternatively, working with the brightness settings on the 3DS might work - I find that 5 hurts my eyes too, but 3 is perfect.

Yeah I just heard about the 2DS, I'll have to doodle around with it a bit to see how it does for me.
