I don't even ship Harry and Hermione!

(Anonymous) 2013-09-08 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
People saying that the Ron/Hermione was obvious since the beginning have me confused.

Sometimes I wonder if I just read the books wrong 'cause I was convinced Harry/Hermione was where JKR was going by the Prisoner of Azkaban book.

The movies just made me think I was on the right track and then in Goblet of Fire BAM RON/HERMIONE and then I was all like "wait, what?".

Dude, I was like 10 and I could see Ron/Hermione was endgame. They fit the opposites attract trope to a T, and Hermione didn't fit into the 'main character's love interest' space at all.

then it's just me :(

Same, well, I was eleven when I read the first three books back to back and saw hints of R/Hr. I wasn't surprised when they became more obvious and eventually got together, but very pleased. And I still am!

*High fives back* It's always nice to see a fellow R/Hr shipper, or someone who at least didn't mind them :D

Not just you! I'm usually really good at spotting pairings, but I didn't even realize that's where it was going until either OOtP or HBP (can't remember which). I never thought any of the trio were going to get together, to be honest-- they all just seemed like really good friends. Period.

I mean, looking back, I do see some R/Hr hints in earlier books, but it definitely wasn't obvious to me without hindsight.

ayrt

tbh I'd rather they had all remained friends

*just friends, I mean

Oh, me too, most definitely. They had such a strong friendship, and any romance-- whether canon or fanon-- just felt really forced to me. Not that friends can never become lovers, but it never felt like that was the right path, for them.

Not just you - it did seem to come out of no where, at least on Ron's part, imo.

I think I liked Harry/Hermione in like, the first book, though I don't know if I ever gave much thought to whether they'd get together (they were like 10, and at the time, so was I). When book 4 came out I was convinced that Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione would be endgame, but I don't remember if it was before or after I read the book.

Anyway, I'm glad R/Hr didn't actually get together until close to the end.

And I unashamedly love their ship.

Yeah... it was kinda obvious to me, pretty much from the very first book. :p
