Thank you for putting this into words. I felt like all the romances just sprung up out of nowhere. Harry spends all of OotP pining over and then hating Cho, and then halfway into HBP suddenly gets freakishly possessive over Ginny? Hermione and Ron's fighting never sounded like the bickering of a couple, and seriously, if they were that argumentative as friends, I could never see them together for very long. Maybe one or two relationships started at age 17/18 might have survived until the characters were in their 30s/40s, but all of them? Really?

I remember reading the epilogue and thinking 'not one relationship ended? Really?' I couldn't buy that they all lasted(and had kids too). The odds of that just seemed far too unlikely for me.

I know Ron and Hermione were supposed to be the opposites attract cliché but it always seemed to be ramped up just that little bit too much, 'cause man when they argued they went for the throat.

I think JKR has really traditional values, deep down. I don't think she can imagine a person being truly happy if single.
