Labyrinth. Legend. The Fifth Element. And terrible 70's animated pieces like The Last Unicorn, The Selfish Giant, The Happy Prince, and The Point.

I have and I still completely adore it. Okay maybe Mia Farrow shouldn't sing and the glomping tree is incomprehensible, but other than that it's pretty damn fantastic. The animation style is dated but it's still very pretty to watch (ditto for The Flight of Dragons- same team). PSB adapted his own novel, so it's an accurate representation of the story and thus has a very uncompromising ending for a children's movie. America's songs are gorgeous, and as an adult I've really come to appreciate the voice acting-- Christopher Lee, the legendary Don Messick as the Cat, and of course Rene Auberjonois as the terrifying skeleton. Tammy Grimes's reaction as Molly when she sees the Unicorn is heart-breaking.

There is WAY too much awesome in The Last Unicorn to put it down to nostalgia goggles, sorry!

I love Mia Farrow singing in that movie. It's raw and wobbly and off-key, and that is exactly how it should be.

I was going to say you had the best possible taste -- until you called The Last Unicorn "terrible." That movie is made of diamonds.

I only meant that the movie does not do the story justice IMHO. Otherwise, I'm glad that you approved of my selection. :)
