Re: What's a movie with characters who so blatantly caused their own problems as to lose all sympath

Most guys in rom-coms, but the one that really sticks in my head as "YOU FUCKING DERSERVE THIS!" is '40 days and 40 nights'.

Oh, also, have you ever seen 'Chasing Amy'? Usually can't stand kevin smith (Dudebro AND neckbeard all in one very unappealing package) but that film, that dickbag main character. It was all on him.

It's been a long time since I've seen 40D/40N. All I really remember was that Josh Hartnett gave up sex for lent, then he started dating a girl but didn't tell her, and then there was something about a friend's website. And his ex raped him, even though it wasn't treated that way.

Is that about right?

More or less exactly right, but it wasn't rape. He lost control of his "Vow of celibacy" and cheated on his new love interest.

If he'd just been more honest and less of a dick he'd have been fine.

Oh and the "Bet" bullshit that is in like EVERY rom com. Hey, why not just be honest about it?

wait, it looked like he was drugged out and tied up during the one scene. I only saw it on tv a long time ago but it looked like he really wasn't able to say no at the time.

Oh God, fucking Chasing Amy. God, that main character is a douchebag. Anyone who thinks that movie is romantic, I don't even know what to say.
