I think those people are referring to this:

It was interesting how everyone was drawing Carlos as white until the first person put it together that someone named Carlos who was living in the Southwest probably wasn't and drew him that way. Then it shifted and I haven't seen a white version of Carlos since. - Joseph Fink (maxnmona)

Which is ambiguous wording, but I think you could argue that "put it together" = "got it right."

It didn't even occur to me that the name "Carlos" might be a hint about ethnicity. It just registers as "general name" to me.

That still leaves a pretty wide range for skin tones, though, so it's still a pretty stupid thing for people to get up in arms about.

Same, Carlos is...such a general name it didn't even register it's meant to be ethnic-specific.
