When did 'soulmate at 11' come up? It's not like Harry and Ginny's eyes met in Book 1 and they imprinted on each other. Neither did Ron and Hermione. Wasn't that sort of the point, that those ships grew attracted to each other when they were a little older? And didn't the other canon ships get together later on, like James/Lily and Remus/Tonks? What about Luna/random guy? George/Angelina? Is there a flashback I missed where the world stopped when they saw each other as they were being Sorted? Draco didn't end up with Pansy. Sirius didn't have a canon romance. So where is this trope actually happening?

Sirius didn't have a canon romance.

What about James? :D

So where is this trope actually happening?

I loathe the term soulmate, I think what people are referring to is that basically most people in the books married their friends from school, which they find strange. It's actually completely understandable since all Wizard go to the one same school.

Snape must've thought Lily was his soulmate even earlier than 11, so he fits the trope.

I was going to mention James but wanted to prove a point. And he and Sirius probably 'became soulmates at 11', wait no, that's totally different!!

Snape is too special to fit that lowly trope. He's also better because he fell in love with Harry after the war, in a bunch of AUs in which he never died.
