I could deal just fine with all the rest of his asshole behavior, but Owen's use of alien date rape drugs in the first goddamn episode of the series is unforgivable. It really impairs my enjoyment of the character, who otherwise is the single best one in the whole series. So if that had never happened I would be quite happy!

Yeah, I pretend that never happened. I also pretend the backstory he was given towards the end of the second season (I think?) never happened, because it didn't make sense. Actually, none of their backstories made any sense for their characters as they were originally established imho...

Oh my god, so much this. That was a massive sticking point with me. He wasn't remotely so awful in the rest of the show, but I suspect he was originally intended to be a lot darker than he ended up (which, considering how dark the show was, must have been pretty damn dark).
