Nope. I went into the game expecting the fandom versions of the characters - expecting Ashley to be a tiresome bigot and Kaidan to be charming and cute. Instead, I dropped him from the squad after five minutes of his complete inanity. Ashley's got issues, but she's also a level-headed badass who takes no shit. My practical Femshep adores her, and since she's already a biotic...peace out, Kaidan.

Nope. I romanced Kaidan in another playthrough and still found him boring.

My main game had Kaiden killed because Ashley was more interesting story-wise and I grow to like her- I have a backup game where he lived and I did all the choices I didn't in my main game. He's nice enough, just so boring...
