On looking for work and psychosomatic illnesses
(Anonymous) 2013-09-09 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)1 -I used to suffer from bad anxiety as a teen, but I got over it.
2 - I've been unemployed for a while and it's really getting me down.
But Ive noticed lately that every time I have a job interview, or any talk related to requiring work lately, I'm ill - I cough, have a fewer, throw up, whatever.
I used to think it was fate conspiring on my, but now I remember that years ago, back when I had the anxiety, I'd have psychosomatic symptoms, too.
I never made the connection now as I don't have that fear anymore...but, could it be? And how the hell do you get rid of something your subconscious is doing?
Re: On looking for work and psychosomatic illnesses
(Anonymous) 2013-09-10 01:26 am (UTC)(link)turns out it was just really bad anxiety. through distracting myself by watching movies, the feelings of nauseau went away.
if you're aware the symptoms are psychosomatic in nature, then you may be better able to overcome them. perhaps you could take a "pill" - some kind of placebo - to trick yourself into making the symptoms go away.
Re: On looking for work and psychosomatic illnesses
Even though I'm conscious of the fact that it's my nervousness making my bowels do the tarantella, I still haven't found a way to prevent it, sorry. :/
