I think it's mind numbingly convoluted to say "I'm gender neutral, so I can wear "boy" clothes and "girl" clothes!"

It's not convoluted. It's sexist. It's implying that girls can't wear boy clothes and boys can't wear girl clothes.

A lot of those genderfluid people--in places like tumblr, not everyone--appear to want rigid gender roles to exist so they can pretend to flaunt them.

Yeah, that's pretty much why I dislike the term. One person's skirt is another person's kilt, you know?
