I've seen this a lot too. It's ridiculous to me because no seriously are you saying that your Sherlock/Watson or Destiel or whatever OTP-squeeing is SO MUCH more mature just because it's not animated? That's a load of.

There are also a fair amount of anime that are geared to a college + audience though, so this seems extra silly.

(Not that it would matter if you're into 'kiddy' anime either, because let's be real a lot of stuff geared to children and young adults? Pretty damn mature in content.)
