(Anonymous) 2013-09-10 01:25 am (UTC)(link)Whereas pan, as has been discussed, has a use because it means your sexuality specifically covers people who are trans*, genderfluid, intersex, etc. And you might argue that ideally people shouldn't have to have a specific label to specify this, because if you like a person enough things will be hunkydory - but things don't necessarily work out that way, and a lot of people are intolerant/phobic to boot.
Basically, pansexual is a differentiated orientation with a wider social purpose, unlike demisexual which means jack shit when compared with the wider spectrum of human interaction and sexuality.
