What's wrong with linking here on 4chan? Anyway it was on Video Games Generals which is generally a more chill place than the more infamous boards (indeed that particular board is more mature than many video games companies official board, I'm looking at you Bioware Social Network)

there's just no reason to do it, and you always run the risk of a bunch of shitty /pol/ idiots or /r9k/ people or something coming across it. but mostly, again, i don't see any reason to do it

Video Games General, I tried to post a post with the link and it said 'banned URL' and then when I tried to post about an unrelated topic it said I was banned for 24 hours

Sometimes 4chan autobans you thinking you're posting spam. This is pretty likely, considering you've been banned for only 24 hours. You could appeal if you want, but I wouldn't bother.
Their spam detectors are pretty shitty.
