Billionaire vs. Billionaire

[personal profile] mekkio 2013-09-10 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Who would you rather be?

Bruce Wayne (Have a secret identity, majority of foes are clinically insane, Alfred as your man servant (any version of him you want), several major tech weapons, non-lethal way of fighting)

Tony Stark (Out in the open identity, majority of foes are power hungry egomaniacs that still are arguably sane, Jarvis as you man servant (any version of him/it you want), one major tech weapon (the suit), lethal way of fighting)

Stark, definitely. For one thing, at least the MCU version of him appears to have less "but you can't be near me, everyone I love dies/falls in a ditch/whatever!". (Granted, "less" is still a long way from "none." Plus I like his "powers" better, his general situation, etc.
starphotographs: ...I'm not that bad, though. And I don't even light things on fire! Well, not regularly... (Izaya (devious))

Stark for sure! :D

Bruce mostly because of his villains. They're all so deliciously messed up. I think Marvel villains are more pitiful than messed up. There are exceptions though.

Yeah, that's the thing. I think I'd rather deal with the psychopath Joker than have to put up with the likes of the insufferable Scott Summers.

Some other billionaire who isn't a superhero? I guess?

If it's between those two, Tony Stark, because it's probably a lot easier for him to walk away from the superhero thing than it is for Bruce, and a lot easier for him to just hire a team of talented, capable people to fight crime using the suit if you need to assuage your own guilt.

Tony. I envy his genious tbh, and I don't want Batman's inability to get a good therapist, ridiculous no-killing-ever dogma and weird tendency to drag kids into vigilantism.

Don't bother with the vs. part or me being any of them (ouch!), just remove their costumes and pile them on top of each-other. Satisfaction!

Definitely Stark (but gender-swapped, because I don't want to be a dude!). Bruce is generally miserable and Tony is generally happy. Tony just tends to take a more healthy approach to bad stuff than Bruce does (and as I'm typing that sentence, I'm suddenly thinking that I would pity both of them more than words if they were real, because Tony's approach may be healthier but it isn't always healthy and Bruce's is worse and that's just sad).

So, yeah, totally Stark.

Also, Tony is clearly the richer of the two and I want to not be poor and would love to be as not-poor as I can be.

Tony Stark (in the MCU, at any rate) is actually more emotionally well-adjusted than Bruce Wayne (in any version with the possible exception of Adam West), so there's one consideration. On the other hand, Tony has the whole shrapnel/Arc Reactor situation (until Extremis, at least), while Bruce is physically whole and in pretty much peak human physical condition.

I think Tony. He has other interests than being a superhero, which is healthier.

Stark

I can get my rocks off, I don't need to learn to be a badass martial artist, I can kill if I need to (What is the use of all that money if you can't cover up the occasional dead super villian or hooker?). Plus flying.

As fascinating as I find Bruce Wayne, I would never ever want to be him. I'd probably just drink myself into a stupor every evening. (Though I WOULD love an Alfred! Alfred is clearly boss.)

While (MCU) Tony has his own set of issues, he's still more emotionally available and definitely more well adjudged, and who doesn't want to be a genius? He's also got Pepper (who is amazing and keeps him 'grounded') and gets to hang out with the rest of The Avengers, so it just seems like the better deal. (Sure Bruce has the Justice League, but I know the Avengers better and so like them more as a team. Plus, though I don't have extensive knowledge of the Batman comics, he comes off as more of a lone wolf, and is miserable more often than not. Tony has more fun, and is generally happier, which is very important.)

I'd probably just drink myself into a stupor every evening.

Funny you should say that about Bruce given how in the comics Tony is a recovering alcoholic.

Stark. He seems like he, you know, actually has fun with the whole superhero gig.

Also, Pepper is hot, and also not dead, while Batman's love interests have sky high body count.

I feel so bad for Bruce...

[personal profile] mekkio 2013-09-11 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Everyone is going for RDJ's Stark rather than comic Stark. Does anyone read the Batman and Iron Man comics? Don't make a lone wolf here. Please?

I mean, Stark got Captain America killed in the comics. (Or at least, blames Steve's death on himself.)

Tony Stark.

Bruce Wayne, in one of the continuities where he has the Batfamily (seriously! the batclan is bigger than all the 'well-adjusted' superfamilies are, Robins and Huntress and Nightwing and Batgirls...) and is a member of the Justice League.

Stark.

Because Jarvis and he has a sense of humour and batman creeps me out and he has more money than batman and Jarvis and of course the suit

Stark. Mostly because I'd like to be a genius as well, and Bruce is the least convincing genius of all time.

So long as I got Jarvis and Pepper? Tony, Tony all the way.

I do love Batman but man I would not want to be him his life really, really sucks. Sure the Marvel heroes don't tend to be much better off but I would want Tony's brains and his suits and general engineering kickassery so that I could make anything I damn well pleased. Plus the suits fly. :D
