Yeah but able to tell appropriateness is age linked for most normal folks.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-11 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
True, I'm not really talking about that. This might be about a specific person and I have no idea what their deal is.

We should assume

that they are pathetic freaks though.

mmm

I don't care that much

And some folks are learning-delayed or have disorders where they can't determine appropriateness. Whatever. It's not like their ridiculous self-insert fic is hurting anybody just by existing somewhere on the internet.

"can't determine appropriateness"

Yeah, here comes a self diagnosed ass-burger with an excuse being a manchild.

I'm an officially diagnosed ass-burger and all I can say to this is LOL

Not any more you are not. They took away your speshul label. Now you are just mildly autistic.
comma_chameleon: (Why?!)

I'm tired. I read that as mildly aesthetic for some reason...

Completely OT but I really want to know, it has been bugging me for a while. Why does your avatar have Taguchi in it? If I were to recall it's Akanishi who says "Why Jennifer?"

Haha, you are remembering right, it was Jin that said it.

I just like Junno more, and "Why Jennifer?!" is my go-to expression at work when someone's frustrating me. Which works out quite well when we have three of them, no one even gives me a second look. XD

between F!S and reddit I'm getting so sick of the "anti-autism" people.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-12 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
*eyeroll*

Some people prefer Asperger Syndrome because mild autism is kind of fuzzy. Not as an excuse but as a name for the thing they have. With how often I see people using autistic as a common insult lately I prefer Aspergers.

(I was clinically diagnosed by multiple doctors.)

You can use ANYTHING as a "speshul label" just because people self diagnose doesn't mean it doesn't exist. If every diagnosis that people abused "didn't exist" we wouldn't need doctors.

Please don't tell people what term they're "allowed" to use.

Pfff you're naive if you think there's not close minded jerks on both sides.
manifold: Careful, we don't want to learn something from this. (moral? what moral?)

Kind of a pain in the ass that they have, though. I was diagnosed with autism, not Asperger's Syndrome, and it's actually a useful distinction to make re: symptoms, etiology, treatment, reactions to medicine, severity of sensory defensiveness, etc.

Now it's gone beyond "non-professionals who think everyone autistic who can talk has 'ass-burgers'" to actually not being officially differentiated very clearly. So now non-specialist doctors can get utterly confused, too! Hooray!

It's made no impact on anyone else, though. People still ask me if I'm "ass-burgers", DSM-V be damned.

tl;dr That "speshul label" was useful, damn it.

Fuck you

(Anonymous) 2013-09-12 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
So , let me get this straight. After going through childhood wondering if there was something wrong with me or that I was "stupid" . I finally get an explanation of why I tick they way I do so maybe just fucking maybe I can figure out how to work with it and overcome my weaknesses, but now even that's taken away and I have to go with just a fuzzy 'mildly autistic' rather than a specific, clear diagnosis that explains and spells out everything.

and now I have to deal with the "lol autistics are so pathetic and funny" as well as being told I don't have anything , it's all in my head, I'm just lazy. Or "your disorder doesn't exist, you're just a dumbass"

Because just wanting a specific diagnosis makes me a "speshul snowflake". It's not a label for me. It's not a reason I'm a super secret misunderstood genius it's not a get out of jail free card. It doesn't make me better than you or anyone. It's just an explanation and a small comfort knowing that there's a name for it and a reason for it.

I'm sick of being fucking ridiculed because of this small aspect of me. "it's just in your head it's not real you're just lazy" is JUST as insulting as "you're just retarded".

Scoffing at a person with a disability and telling them that it's all made up and they're just a special snowflake who wants attention. Or that they're faking it for attention or money is a form of intolerance against people with disabilities.

I'm sorry, all I want is to have a clear definition of what I have. I don't want it so I can wave it to get me out of trouble or hurt you in any way. I just want it because it helps me personally.

Yeah, yeah. No one thinks autistics are funny, now do your party piece where you rattle off the team roster for the NY Giants 1827-1933. And don't forget to touch your nose three times too.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-12 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
*applauds you*

I was officially diagnosed with Asperger's a couple of years ago. At first the diagnosis was really hard to take, but it has since helped me to understand I'm not just stupid and dumb because I struggle in some ways.

I try to stay away from areas where people would be insulting about it, though. Life's hard enough. Don't let the haters get to you like this! ((Hug))

Actually

(Anonymous) 2013-09-12 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
People with mild autism /"Asperger Syndrome" can LEARN to determine appropriateness.

It just takes...ah you know...work.

Also if we're talking about writing self inserts for boy bands...wouldn't that be womanchild?

Re: Actually

(Anonymous) 2013-09-12 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, why update a stupid insult just because it's wildly inappropriate?
