Do bookstores sell used workbooks?

(Anonymous) 2013-09-12 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
College bookstores, specifically, selling workbooks with, you know, blanks for answers in which someone has written answers?

(One such bookstore sold one such workbook, and my mom is going ballistic.)

Sometimes, but they usually have a label saying that they're used on them, and then they're also usually much cheaper to make up for being used.

Wait, is she going ballistic in a bad way?

Because a workbook with answers in it sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.

Ah, but it has the correct answers in the back already, so some other person having written down their own answers just means you can't test yourself.

can't you just scan it, erase the answers, and then print it later to test yourself once you've forgotten what were the answers?

Depends? Where I used to work [a teacher's store/place that sold that kinda stuff] we didn't because...basically the suppliers would get pissed and that would mean bad things for us, and from what I know in general they don't where I live for that reason. [Plus they generally aren't accepted as returns because...you know. People buy them, copy the pages and want a full refund which isn't cool.]

My college bookstores won't buy anything back you've written in. Same with my bro's and a friend's colleges. Sounds like something got past inspectors.

My old university bookstore didn't care either. You could buy used books with shit written all over them and highlights on every page.
