I have done that with rabbits, even years later I'm pulling out an old t-shirt and remembering who chewed the hem. :/ Also, cleaning their litterbox *for the last time* is always horrible. You wouldn't think I'd get teary-eyed over throwing poop in the trash, but... it's like removing the last evidence they were ever there.
